As stated a few days ago, I got HELEN OF TROY Blu-ray. I also got the book HOLLYWOOD AND THE BIBLE by Gary Smith, which I'll be reviewing later. I should get the LAND OF THE PHARAOHS Blu-ray this fall. I will also get ANCIENT ROME ON THE SILVER SCREEN eventually.
With the publication of the magazine, there will be reviews of books and Blu-rays and stuff in it. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.

I'm currently reading THE ROBE by Lloyd C. Douglas. I'm enjoying it. The edition is an old one and it's illustrated (below). The cover fell apart but the book itself is in solid condition.
If you have any worthwhile recommendations for reading material of the PEPLUM genre, novels or not, leave a comment.

My favorite novel of all time is The Egyptian.
I don't know but wouldn't the title stand out more in wider letters, yellow or white like the "The Robe"'s book? Maybe it would be useful to advertise some of the content on the cover. Anyway looks great.

Ivan, it looks fine when you have it in hand. The photo doesn't do it justice.
From what I have seen of BY THE GODS! magazine it looks fabulous. I particularly like the blog writing style with which we are so familiar. It was interesting to see the effect that the release of Hercules (1958) had on film poster art in your side-by-side comparisons. As always your passion, enthusiasm and genuine love of the genre shines through. I'm looking forward to obtaining the printed version.
A great favourite among Roman re-enactors is 'The Eagle in the Snow', by Wallace Breem.
Its only fault is that its portrayal of the Roman army is more in keeping with earlier times rather than the later era it is set in. Although if it was ever made into a movie the costume department would probably do the same.
It was said to be one of the inspirations for Galdiator although it wasn't. However later editions of the book had a scene based on that movie on the cover.
