Scenes from VENGEANCE OF URSUS (1961)
The matte paintings in this movie are so subtle that if you blink, you'll miss them. IMO, this is how matte work should be in movies. The production values of this movie are excellent and the matte paintings live up to it. No one is credited for these works.
Thank you for posting these photos. I remembered the matte jobs from Vengeance of Ursus, but I didn't remember the lack of credits for the visual effects. What I find amazing is the level of detail in some of the faux city sets in Italian Pepla. One that sticks out in my mind is the amazing sets from Revolt of the Slaves with Wandisa Guida. I always try to spot sets that appear in more than one movie. I am sure they reused these sets again and again to cut down on cost because so many of them were made. Thank you again for all of your hard work
