Lobby Cards set: HEAD OF A TYRANT (1959)

US lobby cards set for HEAD OF A TYRANT. Very good film. It's very different than the usual PEPLUM films out there. The best way to describe it: it's a morbid romance. This set is pretty standard. The point of a lobby cards set was to sell the movie. It's okay but there aren't that many stand-out scenes.

In my view "Head Of A tyrant" is an outstanding Peplum precisely because it depicts an important historical episode, is very well acted, and does not involve large battle scenes, orgies, or gladiators.

Cinema in the Ancient World needs serious dramas as well as Saturday morning popcorn chompers.

Judith Beheading Holofernes is a major theme in western painting. It was depicted by Caravaggio and others.

The ending scene in which the indescribably gorgeous Isabelle Corey as Judith strides out of the colonnade and solemnly hoists Holofernes' head is one of the most dramatic in the cycle. The mobs melt away as she walks down the steps
