Michael Parks as Adam in THE BIBLE : THE BEGINNING... (1966)
Michael died on May 10 at the age of 77. His first and biggest role of the PEPLUM genre was playing the one and only Adam, you know the first man created by God. This wasn't the first cinematic representation of Adam and Eve but it's one of the best. When Adam comes to life, from the dust of the earth, the scene is quite good. Ella Bergryd played Eve (below). This was difficult role in more ways than one and IMO it's the best part of this huge film directed by John Huston. RIP.
What a pity! Parks was always entertaining and engaging. He really got a career boost playing quirky, memorable characters in the films of Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith.
ReplyDeleteFor me, he looked like Mickey Rourke (in his old good days) before Mickey Rourke. It's a pity.
ReplyDeleteGreat scene! I also liked Boyd's Nemrod and O'Toole's angel scene.
If you see the scene of the creation of Adam, and you can remember what you felt in the 80's at seeing the scene of the arrival of the first (nude)Terminator to the city in present days, both scenes look similar and both are equal frightening, even it is the same paradise (at the begining of the Bible and at the beginning of the The Terminator movie), the same strange place, but the second one is mechanical and man fights alone.
