Movie Poster Mondays

Italian poster for REVENGE OF THE BARBARIANS

One of my favourite films. Daniela Rocca (wth one L) is great in this. Poster sorta captures the film's spirit even if it's not as action-packed as the artist's representation.

  1. Daniela MAKES this film! As an actress it was her turn to be lead queen, and she sparkles every time she is on screen. It's also one of the very few "palace intrigue" plots that works on all levels. Kudos to the producers for highlighting a now-obscure period in Late Antiquity ... Galla Placidia deserves a modern spectacle in her own right these days, strong female empress who beds the pagan savage, yet returns to throne later.

  2. I correct myself ... Ataulf, king of the Visigoths from 411 to 415, whom she wed after being held captive, and which is depicted in the movie,
was an Arian Christian. Still, an exciting time!

  3. I agree! Galla Placidia is often portrayed as someone evil but Daniela's (and the writers and director)'s interpretation is the best yet.
