Marilù made just a handful of PEPLUM films and yet she she went through a lifetime of styles in them. Here is a small sample. Marilù changes her style so many times, even during the same film, that I get her confused with other actresses. But then most are probably not looking at her hairstyles when she was on screen.
MACISTE - GLADIATOR OF SPARTA
THE MAGNIFICENT GLADIATOR
THE LAST GLADIATOR
TRIUMPH OF HERCULES
Thanks, most interesting compilation.
ReplyDeleteHairstyles for upper class women in Peplum movies are always a problem, as authentic depictions would appear ugly and vulgar to modern audiences.
In Ancient Rome wealthy women wore very elaborate hairdos, often piled up on metal frames. A dedicated female slave called an ornatrix (hence the English word "ornament") worked solely on the hair of the mistress and any daughters in an upper crust household.
Sometimes, however, wealthy women wore wigs made from the hair of blond or brunette female slaves. Such unfortunate women could expect to be sheared regularly like a sheep.
