The blinding of the slave girl is too gruesome. In some respects it is more disturbing than if she had provided lunch for the local lions.A better approach would have been to have Gianna personally whip her. Unfortunately no DVD with either subtitles or dubbing in English currently seems to exist.
I was wrong about the DVD. Amazon.com lists one, but the reviewers agree it it of poor physical quality.
