Yul Brynner and George Chakiris battle it out in KINGS OF THE SUN
This scene doesn't happen in the film. I'm not much of a fan of this film. It sometimes borders on the silly, certainly the big battle during the climax. The whole film looks like a mini-version of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS with a pyramid big enough to fit in a Wal-Mart parking lot. It's a shame because I love Mayan culture.

Its certainly a hoot and maybe the worst mini-epic ever. Director J Lee Thompson did much better films. Chakiris and Shirley Anne Field are both so expressionless they are practically zombies - Brynner seems to be over-acting by comparison, and she seems the only woman in the whole tribe, and yes that small pyramid they fight over!
This was a fun film which I remember seeing in the theaters. Forget history, and action was alright. Yul was one of my favorite actors when I was growing up and I thought he did an admiral job with sloppy script. 60's hairdos, very bad wigs what more do you want, and they never built the right size pyramid anyway. Musical score was not bad at all. Photography was sweeping. Awesome if you were a young moviegoer seeing this on the very big screen.
