That appears to be pool cue in his hand, so I must assume he's not filming a movie at the moment. Do you know what this picture is? He's older here, so it was toward the end of his film career, I would guess. And I wonder: did he ever work out, or was he just that much of an athletic person who naturally looked that way?

Yes he worked out. He did work as a gondolier. This photo looks like an early one since he's so pumped up. As he got older he got less muscular.
