Galen (Peter MacNicol) just discovered that Valerian (Caitlin Clarke) is actually a girl after a swim in a river in DRAGONSLAYER (1981)
Yesterday, I posted a compilation of clips of "You're not a boy but a girl!" cliché and this film from the early 1980s continues with that tradition. Though many may think this is strictly a "Fantasy" film the screenplay is filled with tons o' PEPLUM clichés including this one which really puts it firmly in the PEPLUM category. The scene when he discovers that HE is a SHE is dealt with brief nudity. In a Disney family film no less. How times have changed. Aside from MacNicol being totally miscast as the hero and the pacing being a bit slow the film is one of the best from the 1980s and holds up beautifully today.
