Photo of the Day

Alan Steel in LOST TREASURE OF THE AZTECS or....

LOST TREASURE OF THE INCAS...

or

HERCULES & THE TREASURE OF THE INCAS...

The original title is SANSONE E IL TESORO DEGLI INCAS.

A story set in the American west but shot in Italy. It's more PEPLUM than Spaghetti Western.

Alan looks like a buff Georges Marchal here.

Im surprised its not really a Maciste movie. He really got around in time and space.
I wonder what if they had never changed Maciste's name in any of his movies for release in the USA.
Would he have been a popular character in USA pop culture?
I think if they had franchised his name in the early 1960's here maybe.
with comic books, toys, gum cards etc.
Was Maciste supposed to be the son of Samson?
Which actor was the best Maciste?
(aka Samson,Goliath ,Hercules etc.

His haircut sort of reminds me of a famous American bodybuilder named
Dave Draper aka The Blond Bomber.Who sort of scared me when I was a kid back around c.1965.
Because Draper used to have a muscle building advertisment
that appeared in the various well known comic books,Marvel,DC.
Looking at actual photographs of his muscles expecially him flexing his bicep in the ads between comic book pages, sort of scared me as unreal.
Draper does have a peplum connection of sorts.
He played a host as Dave the Gladiator"when he hosted a weekly show in Los Angeles on Channel 9 KHJ tv Saturday nights 1964-1965.which showed nothing but peplum movies. He also appeared in moviea and tv,like THE MONKEES,and The Beverly Hillbillies.

Maciste is not the son of Samson. Totally different characters and setting. The film SON OF SAMSON with Mark Forest was titled that because few people knew about Maciste this side of the world so any Maciste film made in Italy was automatically retitled as Atlas, Goliath, Hercules, etc.

I wanted to ask about the movie
Maciste in King Solomon's Mines.
Apparently at one point this
was considerd a "lost movie".
Even tho it played on American
tv from 1966 to 1971
and was re-released in Spain in 1974.
My question is the dvd release(s)
The Alpha Entertainment dvd from 2008 considered a low quality pan and scan.
But what about the Synergy Entertainment dvd release?
Is that from a better quality print?
Icant find any more info about the Synergy Entertaintment Archives series dvd, when it was released, reviews however.

Synergy dvds are crap. I bought 2 of them and they never worked. From what I gather they have the same public domain prints as Alpha or Millcreek.

Does any of the film archives or labs in Italy have a wide screen print of Samson in King Solomon's Mines?

There's a French DVD with a gorgeous widescreen version of MACISTE IN KING SOLOMON'S MINES

I suspect that the French dvd is in region 2 encoding only?
