Claudette Colbert is CLEOPATRA (1934)
It's safe to say that this film is 100% historically inaccurate. Some love it for the OTT Hollywood opulence while others find it a complete bore. It's sorta a curio alright. Can you imagine the dress rehearsals for this production? Arf.

It's an entertaining spectacle which should've been filmed in color, but of course you're right -DeMille fictionalized 10+ years of actual events and crammed them into what appears to be several months. DeMille eliminated Cleo's kids & siblings totally and gave her a wardrobe worthy of the Ziegfeld Follies. Plus, Octavian's Scottish brogue is hilarious.
