Randus (Steve Reeves) is awaken in the middle of the night by Vetius (Jacques Sernas), Claudia (Gianna Maria Canale) and Crassus (Claudio Gora) in THE SON OF SPARTACUS
That's one big bed! Anyway, today is Steve's birthday. Without Steve, there wouldn't be a PEPLUM genre as we know it today and this blog wouldn't exist.

Were they there to kill him? That's a pretty big sword.
To either capture him or kill him. They suspected he was the one going around upsetting Crassus' plans but could never prove it or catch him in the act. They thought they had him, but when they burst into his room, they found him in bed in his jammies. Without a doubt, one of Steve's best, inspite of the overuse of Giovanni Cianfriglia as his stunt double.
You have to remember that Steve hurt his shoulder during the filming of the chariot scene in LAST DAYS OF POMPEII. He did a lot of stunts prior to his injury, but I think Giovanni did a great job. This doesn't matter to me and a lot of people will agree that this is one of his very best.
I agree, and some of the stunts would have required a stunt double even if Steve hadn't hurt his shoulder (that jump from the second floor onto the stack of pillows always makes me go 'wow!'. Giovanni earned his keep, and he was especially buff in this movie, so it is hard to tell it's him in some scenes. To a devout Reeves film fan such as I, it's fun to analyze every scene and to see who is who.
