Though not as unbridled as the orgies I listed yesterday this feast is definitely one of the most over-the-top feasts. I've always had issues with this gargantuan feast thinking it's sorta improbable since it takes place on a ship.

The barge seems much more lavish inside than viewed from the river as it passes by ..... there's also Cleo's lavish sleeping quarters downstairs.
I always thought that Greeks and Romans ate reclining, not sitting upright ? Ptolemaic banquets were the stuff of legend, and Cleo is said to have given her guests the golden, jewel-encrusted serviceware (plates, goblets, etc.) they ate from. The floors would be strewn with rose petals, etc.
