Mucius (Gordon Scott) proves a point by burning his hand in front of Arunte (Gabriele Antoni) in HERO OF ROME
Great PEPLUM film with only a 4.3 (out of 10) rating at IMDb, which is mind boggling. There are a lot of stand-out scenes in it, including the one in the image above. Definitely one of the better Gordon Scott mini-epics. After burning his hand, Mucius wears a bandage or an iron glove and has to learn how to fight with his left hand. Cool stuff. I have a super clear widescreen copy of this film from a British TV broadcast (meaning: it's in English) but they cut this specific scene, which is infuriating since it's one of the most important scenes in the story.
It's hard to believe that they cut out one of best scenes. When I say best that scene really sets the pace of the story, and the respect he received from the enemy King and his son. My version is a widescreen from Retromedia which pretty good.
ReplyDeleteIs Arunte a student gladiator? He looks quite athletic.
ReplyDeleteThe Enemy King's Son.
ReplyDeleteGabriele Antoni, who plays Arunte, was Ulysses in the Steve Reeves Hercules films.
