Diocletian (Carlo Tamberlani; right) says goodbye to Livia (Christine Kaufmann) when Constantine (Cornel Wilde) orders her to follow him outside of the dungeon in CONSTANTINE & THE CROSS
Beautiful photo. Big film, by Italian standards, that critics didn't like much. It's virtually forgotten today. It's long and like HANNIBAL, it's one of those films which other PEPLUM productions repeatedly used footage from.

I've got it - it was an official dvd release - but haven't seen it, and it has Belinda Lee as well in her last role. I shall have to see it soon. Kaufmann gave up her career when she married Tony Curtis.
This is one of my many favorites, and actually has a cast of thousands in it. The music is spectacular also and the cast is loaded with PEP stars. I must correct you Tamberlani is not the Emperor he is the physician to the Emperor and he happens to be a leader among the Christians. Great battle scenes.
Steve, I didn't mention Emperor Maximianus in my post.
Michael, was it a British DVD release? The versions available here in North America are pretty shoddy.
I'll do a special on Belinda Lee one day.
