Proserpina (Elena Sangro) tries to entice Maciste (Bartolomeo Pagano) in MACISTE IN HELL
The film starts in quasi-contemparary times and ends up becoming a full throttle PEPLUM once it takes place in Hell. The film was one of many of the period which established the PEPLUM genre in the consciousness of Italian/European filmgoers. It's obviously based or inspired by DANTE'S INFERNO which was also made into a film during the silent era (several times actually) and was as big as this.
For me, Pagano is the one and only Maciste, like Connery is the one and only "real" Bond. Besides "Cabiria", this must be his finest film.
