This photo, taken in 1955, at the height of her rising stardom, Sophia Loren works her charms for the media. By then Sophia had appeared in TWO NIGHTS WITH CLEOPATRA, AIDA and the recent ATTILA (1954), the latter would only be released in the US/Canada in 1958, with her voice dubbed by someone else. Sophia would appear years later in the massive productions of EL CID and THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
Well, Sophia certainly was accommodating, wasn't she?? From that angle, he could get a photo of almost everything!! lol
ReplyDeleteA true beauty and she is an outstanding actress who has made many great movies. My personal favorites are YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW, TWO WOMEN. She has starred with many great actors and she was very sexy.
ReplyDeleteSophia began as a teenager among the extras in QUO VADIS made in Rome in 1950 - a decade later she was headlining her own epics like, as you say, EL CID and FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE. I recently saw TWO NIGHTS WITH CLEOPATRA and her version of ATTILA with Anthony Quinn. She was averaging 3 or 4 films a year during the 50s. BOY ON A DOLPHIN and LEGEND OF THE LOST (a Sahara western with John Wayne in '58) are great viewing too ...
