Yul Brynner and Shirley Anne Field in KINGS OF THE SUN

Critics trashed this film to bits and on some level they were right but the film is still entertaining certainly if the sight of a near naked Brynner, for minutes on end, would be perceived as eye candy for some.

Yul Brynner played his part very well, and this made the movie decent. I think that this movie did pretty decent at the box office too. What do critics know. Some of the actors were totally miscast.

The miscasting is pretty bad. The history too. The geography. The mini temple is, huh, silly. No language barrier, etc. But it's colorful and Yul is captivating, whether you're a fan or not.

Great Elmer Bernstein score and good to see Richard Basehart in a movie, we were watching him on TV in VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA

As muscular as Brynner was, I always found George Chakiris more appealing - handsomer, physically more sensual. But his hairstyle in this flick is virtually identical to the one he had in "West Side Story" which in some ways is distracting.

George had way better abs.
