Jaye Davidson as Egyptian god Ra in STARGATE
A PEPLUM/SCI-FI or a SCI-FI/PEPLUM hybrid, no matter how you look at it STARGATE is definitely a PEPLUM, with the elaborate Egyptian look and mythology. Jaye could be considered a one hit wonder of the genre. He made two films and disappeared.

I've read that Jaye clashed so badly with Roland Emmerich while they were making this that it drove him to retire from acting. He had his nipples pierced and refused to remove them so they had to design costumes that would cover them.
Now that you mention it I remember the infighting between him and Roland and how disillusioned Jaye became with moviemaking. It must have been really bad.
