Technical goofs

In one of those odd things you notice when you spend too much time watching PEP films, I have two copies of APHRODITE GODDESS OF LOVE, the US one and the Italian one. When comparing both I noticed something odd...a major part of the film in the US version is flipped over (or is it the Italian version?). It starts 22 minutes into it, the image is flipped horizontally for a duration of 25 minutes or so and then goes back to normal again.  Very odd. I wonder how this happened. Someone didn't put the film reel in the correct order during the telecine process? The US version is the yellowish image while the Italian print is the clear pristine one.
