This shot of an army leaving a castle/fortress has been used and re-used in at least a dozen PEPLUM flicks. I still do not know the original source but it looks more medieval than Roman.

This shot is of the roman legions of Constantine leaving their northern fortress to march against Maxentius and Rome. This is actual footage from the epic motion picture CONSTANTINE AND THE CROSS. Starring Cornel Wilde, Belinda Lee, Christine Kaufman. The movie was filmed in the country of Yugoslavia, the province of Croatia, now a separate country in 1960-1961.
Thanks for the info. It's not surprising I couldn't figure it out because I have yet to see CONSTANTINE AND THE CROSS. I'll have to watch it now and check it out.
